April 2007
Honorary Membership Presentation to Bro Ian Türpie R.o.H . On Saturday the 14 th of April 2007 the members of the Pride of Lossie Lodge No 9132 Moray & District Provincial Grand Lodge presented Brother Ian Turpie ROH with his emblem marking 40 years service to the RAOB GLE. The occasion was graced by the attendance of many of our ladies.
Bro Ian joined the order in September 1966 in Borneo whilst serving with the Army. He affiliated to the Aero Malaya Lodge Singapore PGL in Nov 1966 and was then posted back to UK. He didn't take long to find a lodge and affiliated in 1967 to the Hardy Cody Lodge No.9323 in the Aldershot & District Province. He passed his examining council in July1969 and was raised to the Second Degree. Bro Ian lapsed from the order then mainly due to various military postings abroad etc until 1977. He then retired from the military and Bro Ian and his buffess Joan moved to Elgin in Moray and affiliated to the Pride of Lossie Lodge No 9132.
Since then he has served the Lodge and Province as PGP President, Ex Council, President Knights Chapter, PGL Secretary, Minor Lodge Secretary and Province Funeral Marshall Officer. Offices he still holds today along with Examining Council and Knights Chapter Secretary. During this time the lodge has honoured brother Ian by raising him to the third & fourth degrees.
An excellent Honorary Membership presentation and ceremony was carried out by
Bro George Hoey ROH HM. He was escorted by Bro Jon Rowe ROH G.Tyler 1955 and Tom Slowey ROH of the Aberdeen & District Province. His sponsors were Bro Andy Kinghorn ROH HM. and Bro Chas Shaw ROH. They gave their comments and stories of Ian's life in the order, which caused some hilarity and amusement to the guests.
On the conclusion of the presentation a raffle was drawn, buffet served and music supplied by Mr. Sandy Ross ably assisted on drums by the presenting Officer Bro George Hoey ROH.
The members of the Pride of Lossie Lodge No 9132 and the Moray & District Province Fully endorsed and congratulated Bro Ian on achieving this great milestone in his Buffalo career and Brother Ian thanked the Lodge and all members, buffess & friends that came along to witness the presentation. Incidentally it was Bro Ian's birthday on the same evening. He is not giving his age but let's say he has his bus pass.
